10 songs not written by the artist
June 2013
Now you may or may not be aware that more often than not songs are not actually written by those that sing them (quelle horreur!). Notice when people call themselves singers...they just sing the songs, not write them. Whereas singer-songwriters...well they somehow manage to do it all themselves...and, if they've got time, maybe write a couple for someone else!
2. "Party in the USA
Before the release of Jessie J's own album she decided to pass this track onto someone better suited after feeling it was simply not edgy enough. The track also passed by Beyonce too...but later turned out to become Miley Cyrus's best-charting single to date, with over 300 million views on youtube.

1. S&M, Rude Boy & What's my name
If you haven't yet seen the film 'Pitch Perfect' then shame on you. If you have, then you'll have heard of Ester Dean (she plays Cynthia-Rose Adams...the lesbian) who is actually the master-mind behind three of Rihanna's hit singles.

3. Forever Is Over
Remember Busted? Remember James (Bourne) from Busted?

Well he wrote The Saturday's track 'Forever is Over'. Cool, huh?

4. F**K You

Not entirely sure why Bruno Mars gave this one away...as it went onto become and incredibly successful single. Incase you were wondering Bruno also wrote:

- 'Love Me' Justin Bieber
- 'Wavin' Flag' K'naan
- 'Get Sexy' Sugababes
- 'Right Round' Flo Rida (and Ke$ha)
and so many more...

5. Ordinary People

6. Little Things

7. Pass Out and Frisky
After joining EMI records in 2009 Labrinth was set to work with Tinie Tempah. The two of them churned out two of that years biggest hits; Pass Out and Frisky. Pass Out was originally written for Bluey Robinson.

8. Chasing The Sun

9. R.I.P

Drake wrote it, that's all.
10. Breakaway

The song was written by Avril Lavigne and was originally intended for her debut album Let Go. However, it was deemed unsuitable and passed onto Kelly Clarkson to be recorded as part of the soundtrack for The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.
Will.I.Am and Legend co-wrote the song which later went on to win a Grammy award.
Not only did Ed Sheeran write 'Little Things" he also insisted on him being there so that it sounded just as he wanted. Ed wanted it to be solely acoustic guitar and vocals...which proved to be difficult as One Direction's label were fighting to add drums and all that extra stuff that simply wasn't needed.

It was an old song of Ed's that he'd never got round to recording...selling it was definitely the best way to go!
Example wrote The Wanted's "Chasing the Sun". It had originally been written for Kylie Minogue or Enrique Iglesias...but then Example realised it was more suited to the The Wanted. The boys, however, later confessed that they prefer Example's original demo...compared to their own.
