One Direction and their ridiculous tattoos

June 2013

Before any One Direction fans come knocking, guns blazing, we, over at HUWD, understand that everyone's life choices are entirely their life choices (and therefore we should probably keep our noses out). But all we want are a few simple answers...

Why are they slapping on tats left, right and centre? Where is the inspiration for them coming from? And wouldn't it have been easier just to start a scrap book...?

Right let's start with possibly the most googled member of the band, floppy-haired-heart-throb Harry. Apparently he's already accumulated more than 30 tattoos...that's pretty much one tattoo for every month he's been famous.

Louis's tattoos are worse though.

Whether it's a moose, stag or a tribute to the deer the family car once ran over; it still looks bizarre...and the thing above it; a heart shaped tangerine? What was going through Louis's head when he sat done to choose this weeks tattoo design?

That is a question we'd like answered.

And let us not forget about Liam.

Now we would just love to hear about the inspiration behind the tyre marks forever printed on Liam's forearm; maybe something to do with the tractors he used to play with as a kid? Your guess is as good as ours...

We know many people get tattoos as a permanent reminder of a significant moment in their life...and yes the last two and half years have probably been the most memorable of Harry's life so far...but are they all necessary...? He does realise they're never coming off, right? Obviously it's his life, his body...but why did (and does) he feel the need to use his body as his own little doodle-book. Some would say his body is beginning to look like the dirty graffitied bathroom wall of a cheap strip club....not sure that's quite the look he's going for. But you do have to ask...would he still have got all these tats if he hadn't been thrust into the limelight.  Can we blame it on Simon Cowell? We think it would be easier to blame it  on Simon Cowell (along with everything else in the world, but let's not get into that now).

What does the moose mean...!?

Oh, and the quote.

"Everything I ever wanted but nothing I'll ever need"

Surely it would have been easier to write it on a sticky-post and leave it on his bed-side table...that way, the next morning, he could crumple it up and throw it in the bin after realising how uninspiring it is, and how unnecessary it was of him to have it tattooed onto his skin. Liam is currently lagging in the tattoo collection competition (he's only got about 4 or 5)...but I doubt it will stay that way for long.

I guarantee you will regret that Zayn.

You know that email address you made when you were 13? Yeah, you know, 2cauute2handle@hotmail.com. We can all agree it's embarrassing, but at least it's not permanently inked to your skin like every single on of Zayn's tattoos.

Again, all we want to do is ask WHY? Why the big black blob and the words 'ZAP', and please don't come back with the answer "Uhh cos' it looks cool" because it definitely doesn't...especially with the skull so elegantly placed next to it.

At least Niall's being sensible about the whole thing.

Ah Niall, the cute Irish one. How he's now suddenly become ten times more appealing for not having joined his bandmates and succumbed to what's clearly large amounts of boy-band-banter induced peer pressure.

Go Niall, you don't need no tats.

Now opinions are opinions, and, like an bumhole, everyone has one. Whether you love One Direction, or strongly dislike them (hate's a strong word), think their tattoos are ridiculous...or their music doesn't entirely portray the real them. It doesn't matter. They're rich, they're famous and there's literally nothing you can do about it.

Also, they're nice boys and their music's pretty catchy. Well done Simon.

Surely there are better quotes out there...?

And the microphone? We guess it  represents you and your contribution to society. Please, help us understand!
